Bridges:

Use your existing teeth to create a bridge that replaces your missing teeth!

Dental bridges are great way to replace missing teeth while building upon your already existing teeth. Gold, metal, alloys, or porcelain are used to ensure a strong and long lasting bridge across the area of the missing tooth. They are a permanent or fixed device that cannot be removed without the help of a dentist.

In your first visit, an abutment will be created of your existing teeth where the bridge will go, and these teeth are then recontoured to make a base for the bridge. After this base has been made, a mold is taken of the area and is then send to a dental lab. The lab uses the mold to create a bridge that will fit and feel as close to your natural teeth as possible. The bridge itself consists of two crowns on either end to place on the now-created abutments and a pontic, or the new tooth that replaces your missing tooth.

While we wait for the lab to create your new tooth, we will fit you with a temporary bridge to protect the abutments and the exposed gum areas while also looking more appealing than the gap from a missing tooth. When the permanent bridge comes in, you will have a follow up visit with the dentist to place the new bridge on the abutments with an adhesive to make sure it stays on with a solid grip.

Your new bridge may take some time to get used to, but after only a few days it should look and feel like your own natural teeth are back again. For the first few days after the procedure, you should make sure to only eat soft foods, but soon you will be able to eat the foods you love with no issues from the bridge.

We recommend replacing a missing tooth for not only the visual benefit of not having a missing tooth, but also because it could cause structural damage to your mouth and jaw. Eventually it might even make it difficult to eat or even speak properly. Set up an appointment today to restore your natural smile!
